Patient Care Assistant
Alana Aho is a lifetime horse lover. She grew up on her parent’s farm in Duanesburg, NY, where she has been lucky enough to have horses her whole life. Alana was riding before she could walk or talk. Throughout middle and high school, Alana was heavily involved in school sports as well as Pony Club. She competed at United States Pony Club Championships in eventing, dressage, and show jumping. Alana continued her riding career during college, and she competed on the flat and over fences in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association at SUNY Cobleskill. She graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 2015 with her B.S. in Animal Science. Alana also met her fiancé, Jake, at Cobleskill.
After college Alana worked on a Thoroughbred breeding farm handling mares and foals and sale-prepping yearlings. Following one of her riding dreams, Alana then went to work for a US Dressage Federation trainer. Being a part of a veterinary clinic team, however, has always been THE big dream. Being on the road, meeting new people, meeting their horses, and helping them has always held a lot of appeal.
Alana and Jake are planning an August 2018 wedding, and they can’t be more excited to share that special day with friends and family. They are currently living in Duanesburg with one dog, one pot-belly pig, three off-the-track Thoroughbreds, and five cats. If they are not at a horse trials event or dressage show, you will find Alana, Jake, and Oakley (the dog) outside kayaking, fishing, hiking, hunting, or hanging out with friends.
